Review: Cepillin - 15 Exitos

What does a dentist turned famous Mexican clown do? well, make creepy kids music of course. Cepillin which means little tooth brush in spanish is Mexico's most famous clown, before learning of him i counldn't have told you one thing about the payaso(spanish for clown) scene in Mexico, so maybe being the most famous isn't that impressive. With my limited understanding of the Spanish language i may not be able to fully appreciate the musical offerings Cepillin gives us, but i do enjoy quite a number of the tracks on his "15 Exitos" or 15 greatest hits. My favorites are by far "En Un Bosque De La China", "La Feria de Cepillin", and "La Gallinita Co Co Ua" but all tracks have a creepy quailty, that is once you learn that the weird little kid voice is coming from a grown adult man. Oddly enough, I found this on CD not on some scratched vinyl from a Santa Ana thrift store, he must have been big!
