Daylight Savings and some other S

I brought my friend Matt Steinberg in the station today. He's a homie, otherwise he wouldn't be here. I'm new to this blogging thing, I never know quite what to say, but I'm gonna do something new and highlight a couple of the song and artists I played today.

Here Goes:

Adron
Adrienne McCann, under the stage name Adron plays 60s Brazilian Tropicàlia music, just her and a guitar. The music stays unpredictable, with whispers, harmonies, and even some obscure noises thrown in that you wouldn't expect. String Song for instance, has the faint sound of waves and a woodpecker. The music is peaceful and should be enjoyed while laying in a hammock watching clouds pass overhead. She's originally from Atlanta, but has since moved to New York. Her music is released on New Street Records, based out of Georgia.

Matthew Herbert Big Band

This guy is huge. He's a master of sampling and recording non musical sound and making something magical. He's produced records for a huge list of artists, including Bjork, REM, Yoko Ono. But enough about that. His music, mannn. I played the song Knowing, which was described in the liner notes "100 people from around the world singing one word each. 70 simultaneous text messages." It really needs to be heard to be understood. The beginning is smoothly strung together, and the second half with the text messages, is simply erie and omniscient. His music is on Accidental Records.

Fluxed

Today on the show James brought his friend Sara. She's "really cool" and "rad." [Her words, not ours]

JK'ing aside, she actually is really cool and showed me a couple of shoes from KEEP [http://KEEPCOMPANY.com]. The sizes are listed in women's, but it's meant to be unisex. Very accessible. There's also hoodies, shirts and other junk like that. I'm most down with "The Guerra", they remind of the cold winters I was raised on in Minnesota.

Just throwing this out there, but Sara works as a stylist mainly for photo shoots and music videos, and also as a personal shopper. So if anyone's looking for something like that, shoot her a line at prado_sara@yahoo.com

Anyways, here's a pic of Dr. Pepper, before he started making soda...

New Beginnings

Hey check this stuff. Haven't been on here for a while. New Of Montreal album, Skeletal Lamping. Filled with a buncha innuendo. Sometimes that barrier is crossed.
Many times the barrier is crossed.
Probably don't play this with kids around.

James got back from a trip to 1985. He arrived safely and everything's juuuusstttt peachhyyyy.

There's a couple playlists to post up here. As always, different styles get played, all that kinda stuff. Been trying harder to play hip hop and the like on the show. Trying not to get burned out.
