She is studying tissue water state changes in breast cancer tissues with diffuse optical spectroscopy (DOS), a non-invasive bedside optical technique for tissue physiological property monitoring.  DOS was developed by the director of BLI, Bruce J. Tromberg, Ph.D., and his colleagues.  Sophie has received a Research Excellence Award from the International Society for Optical Engineering (SPIE) and Newport Spectra-Physics. </description>
