OCMA Acoustic Showcase recap

It was a very interesting OCMA Acoustic Showcase last night. The talent was great. The audience was more like a family than a group of strangers. Yet now that the acoustic showcases are at eVocal in Costa Mesa, they're all ages and free, you can't get any better than that. And after last night, I can't wait for next Tuesday. The first of the two acoustic showcases to take place at the venue included Cory Case, Sarah Green, Poor Richards Press and Hong Kong Six. It was a nice change in the showcase. Cory juggled his harmonica and guitar oh-so-well, Sarah belted notes like she was at the Hollywood Bowl, Poor Richards Press kept me singing "If I were a millionaire..." and last but not least Hong Kong Six (who were featured on Friday in the OC Register) popped it up with their fun pop-infused ballads-- Their guitarist Jeff even dedicated a song to me...that sweetheart. It was a fun night, especially the after party, which was filled with randomness, including giving love advice at Avalon, then an encounter with some strippers at that place next door to eVocal that blasts the Spanish music and then ending at Detroit Bar. Got to love it.

This is why you have to be at the upcoming showcases and the main event on April 4. You can purchase tickets for super cheap right now and bands playing the showcase have a chance at playing the OC Music Awards.

Expect some videos too. Thanks for everyone who saw the show last night! And if you're interested in other bands who played the showcase, look to your right and click on the KUCI compilation banner. 10 songs for $5.

Here is today's Press Pass Music show. If you missed it or want to hear Hong Kong Six and Will Crum play live again, then here you go. Oh and I kinda forgot to start recording it at the beginning of the show so you're missing the first like 25 minutes, which was all music. The playlist is coming soon.

Will Crum and Hong Kong Six on PPM this Thursday, noon to 2 p.m.

Guess what? We have a double whammy this week on Press Pass Music. Will Crum is playing a live set and then after Hong Kong Six is performing an acoustic set. It should be a good old time.

We're definitely going to talk about Will Crum's performance at the Wendy's in Costa Mesa. See the video below.

ALSO, I have tickets to give away to JAPANESE MOTORS at Detroit Bar on Feb. 19. Who wants them? Call in when you hear me play Japanese Motors. First caller gets the tickets.

Playlist for 11-22-08 -- Hong Kong Six's new ablum and the surf report.

Well, another show bites the dust and here's the recap of what happend: I played Hong Kong Six's new album "Once Upon A Time In The West," throughout the show, and tried to adhere to my surfer listeners needs by throwing in some Japanese Motors and a surf report. It was a fun show. I usually record my show but the stupid computers in the studio were all messed up and ended up not recording it. urggggg!

BTW I'm looking for local surf music so if you know of any please email me: ashleyeliot@yahoo.com.

Next week, I don't have classes... so lets party. Hopefully I will be going to bunch of shows this week, maybe I will see you at Detroit Bar or La Cave. ; )

Have a beautiful weekend and don't forget to check out your local music scene...it will do wonders for you.
