Press Pass Music on Thursday- Fourth of July party and eVocal memories

Hey you guys,

On this Thursday's Press Pass Music show, I will be having a few musicians come in and celebrate the Fourth of July/my birthday and we'll play some favorites and maybe have them do some live covers. AND we will be talking about eVocal and what's going on with the venue and share some good memories. eVocal is closing and this Saturday will be the second to last show before they close their doors. This Saturday, eVocal will be having a HUGE music and arts fest with bands all day from noon to midnight. There will be live bands, acoustic acts, DJs, artists painting murals, BBQ and more. The cover is $7 but the money goes to eVocal so we can try to keep the venue up and running for a little bit longer. AND yes, I will be having my birthday there on Saturday and it shall be amazing. I love you eVocal.

Go to EVOCAL - Parker Macy's CD Release party SATURDAY

Hey you guys,
There are some rumors floating around that eVocal will soon be closing. I KNOW. I'm very sad about this. The best all ages venue in Orange County that supports all types of artists is leaving us. You better go to the last few shows planned. Like Parker Macy's CD release party Saturday night. See the flier below. AND on July 4 there will be a HUGE music fest to not only celebrate 4th of July and my birthday BUT to celebrate eVocal's anniversary and the life it brought to OC"s music scene. We LOVE you eVocal. <3

The Jakes @ eVocal, The Living Suns @ La Cave & The Studiofix @ The Prospector TONIGHT

KUCI is not competing with KROQ fyi. They are two totally different stations. When an artist does get some play on a mainstream station, then that's great. I'm so glad that KROQ is supporting independent artists in Orange County like The Jakes. Yet I don't know how much promotion it is since there is only one hour a week dedicated to independent local bands. If only they were played more during the week!! Lets make it happen...that's my plan. So The Jakes will have the second show of their residency at eVocal tonight. The show is with Dolphin City, Run Doris Run and The Outline. It's all ages and free plus there is food, drinks, DJs and art! Show starts at 7 p.m. (super early, I know!).
Here's a promo that the guys made for their residency.

After the eVocal show, you can easily head down the street to La Cave to catch a last minute/surprise show with The Living Suns AND after stopping by head over to The Prospector in Long Beach to see The Studiofix. A lot is happening on this great Tuesday...and on top of all of that it is Taco Tuesday...go get them tacos!!

Whatever you decide to do, I hope you go to a show and support your local music.

LISTEN to the jam session on Press Pass Music show AGAIN!

The jam session/potluck party to celebrate the KUCI Night at eVocal in Costa Mesa this Saturday was a GREAT success! Four bands, We Are The Pilots, honeypie, Yellow Red Sparks and The New Limb all came into the studio and not only indulged on yummy food but played music/talked about their music. THEN the show ended with a BANG. All 15 musicians from all four bands performed a beautiful rendition of The Beatles' "Hey Jude." The show was epic and a great deal of fun. It's rare to get that many bands in one room and for them all to act like they're BFFs.

To listen or watch the video, please see below. HOPEFULLY we will see you all on Saturday night at eVocal. Show starts at 8 p.m. The cover is $7 and well worth it. Also, the Red Bull ladies will be stopping by.

Love you longtime.

HONEYPIE on the CW Network's "One Tree Hill?"

YES, it is true. Orange County-based band honeypie will have their song "Never Get Enough" on the CW show "One Tree Hill" this Monday at 9 p.m. Even though lead singer Trisha Smith recorded the tracks last year, in the last few months she has pulled together a great band of talented musicians and they played their first show in March for the OC Music Awards showcase. Congrats to honeypie and hopefully we'll hear more songs by them on the CW Network. Now, tune in at 9 p.m. tomorrow (Monday).

BTW honeypie is playing eVocal in Costa Mesa this Saturday w/We Are The Pilots, Yellow Red Sparks and The New Limb. And it's a KUCI Night too! You know what that means! It will definitely be a very good time. Also, all four of these bands are going to be on Press Pass Music this Thursday to celebrate the upcoming show. Expect some jam sessions and even a collaborative cover song? Hmmmm...should be interesting.

Shows...shows and more shows.

Last night, I caught Japanese Motors finally and literally the whole crowd was dancing at Detroit Bar. I felt like I was in a Beach Boys music video or something. It was lots of fun. The band before JM was The Ringers, who will have residency at Detroit Bar in April. Those guys definitely know how to get the crowd fired up... there was stuffed duck involved, the microphone was wrapped around some girl's ankle, shirts came off, pirates danced.... it was a party alright.

As for shows this weekend, tonight I'm hopefully heading over to eVocal in Costa Mesa off 19th St. (such a wonderful, family-like place BTW) to see Mothers Sons, Fun Tree and Will Crum. Also, another show to check out is Marc B., Dolphin City and Parker Macy at Czeckers Bar in Costa Mesa. As for tomorrow, The Vessel Tongue will also be rocking eVocal. AND Fu Manchu will be at Detroit Bar. If you don't got to any of these shows, please go to some other local show and support our awesome musicians.

BEST OF 2008 SHOW -- Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009

It's 2009!!! Wooo hooo! Since, 2008 is officially, I thought it would be great to do a BEST OF 2008 show. After talking with listeners and other locals, I have made a list of the best songs by local musicians/bands from this year. ALSO, this will be my last show of the quarter at the 5 a.m. aka drunkards, insomniacs and surfers timeslot. Starting Thursday, Jan. 8 the Press Pass Music show will be on at noon to 2 p.m., of course every Thursday. YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

The OC Music Awards live showcase also starts on Tuesday, Jan. 6. Please see below. The show is free too! That means starting this Thursday on my show, I will be bringing on a band that will be playing in the upcoming showcase. I will be judging the live showcase so that means you will find me at every showcase starting next week. Hope to see you there. Come say hi, lets talk music and show your support.

This is going to be an unforgettable year for Orange County music. : )
