OC Weekly.... rocks!

There are some IMPRESSIVE articles in OC Weekly this week. First off, HoneyPie (who was on my show today) is featured in the Locals Only column, Will Crum's sneaky IKEA performance and fast-food tour is mentioned (click here to view) and Albert Ching wrote an insightful blog about the OC Music Awards nominations, which I feel the same way as Albert does. Go to www.ocweekly.com to see what else they're up to.

Today's show was SO much fun. We had a double whammy with The Union Line and then HoneyPie. Expect some photos, a recording of the live performance and interview AND video.

Thanks for listening you guys! Tonight, I'm heading to see The Bird and The Bee, Melanoid and Stacy Clark. I haven't decide what shows I'm going to this weekend as I have a ton of work I must do.... but next week: Ra Ra Riot at Detroit Bar on Monday and then the OC Music Awards Showcase at The Gypsy Lounge.

Shows...shows and more shows.

Last night, I caught Japanese Motors finally and literally the whole crowd was dancing at Detroit Bar. I felt like I was in a Beach Boys music video or something. It was lots of fun. The band before JM was The Ringers, who will have residency at Detroit Bar in April. Those guys definitely know how to get the crowd fired up... there was stuffed duck involved, the microphone was wrapped around some girl's ankle, shirts came off, pirates danced.... it was a party alright.

As for shows this weekend, tonight I'm hopefully heading over to eVocal in Costa Mesa off 19th St. (such a wonderful, family-like place BTW) to see Mothers Sons, Fun Tree and Will Crum. Also, another show to check out is Marc B., Dolphin City and Parker Macy at Czeckers Bar in Costa Mesa. As for tomorrow, The Vessel Tongue will also be rocking eVocal. AND Fu Manchu will be at Detroit Bar. If you don't got to any of these shows, please go to some other local show and support our awesome musicians.

Will Crum makes some noise at IKEA in Costa Mesa

This is truly why I love Orange County music. Everyday I'm impressed and surprised by our local musicians. Our very own Will Crum (singer/songwriter/guitarist) and Levi Prairie (drums, also drummer for Gantez Warrior), shocked the IKEA in Costa Mesa on Sunday afternoon with a live electric performance in the bedroom department. And how amazing it was. IKEA employees didn't know what hit them.

Check out the video. Thank you to the blog Flower St. Listing for the awesome footage. Enjoy and lets keep showing Orange County how friggin great our music scene is. More secret shows are coming....

SECRET SHOW with WILL CRUM - Sunday at 1 p.m.

Hey all!

Will Crum is having a secret show tomorrow (Sunday). Everyone is meeting up at the Del Taco off of MacArthur and Habor, then they are cruising over to the secret spot. Will and Levi (also drummer for Gantez Warrior)surprised the customers at Wendy's in Costa Mesa a couple weeks ago. Here is a sneak preview of what you can expect for Sundays Secret Show. Hope to see you there! Feel free to send me a text: 949.922.2588 or email: ashleyeliot@yahoo.com if you're in the area and want to know where the show will be. Expect a video and photos.

Hope you're all not celebrating Valentine's Day or at least getting super drunk as it is the dumbest day ever. You shouldn't have to be reminded to show your love for someone and you should always shower them with gifts. ; )

Here is today's Press Pass Music show. If you missed it or want to hear Hong Kong Six and Will Crum play live again, then here you go. This week!!!

Hey you guys,

Tonight you can see Daniel Morones and Mothers' Sons finishing up their last Monday night of residency at Detroit Bar... and who is opening for them? MY PET SADDLE! I am leaving my first night of class for this one.

Then Tuesday night at Detroit Bar is the last time you'll catch the OC Music Awards live showcase as we're going to Chain Reaction starting next week. Tuesday's show will have Champagne Blvd, Starving For Gravity, Sederra and The Living Suns.

Next, on Press Pass Music this Thursday you will hear We Are The Pilots playing a live set and after I record their performance you will be able to watch it on my blog and youtube. Also, I will be talking to the guys, who are playing Chain Reaction on Tuesday, Feb. 3 for the OCMA showcase.
And we might have a special guest drop by and maybe he will even help me co-host later in the show when WATP are there.

It's going to be an EXCITING week!!

Here are the videos of Will Crum's after party. Also, on my youtube find PPM video promos. Enjoy!

I missed it BUT Will Crum rocked Wendy's today!

Photobucket
I FOUND WILL CRUM!

I made it to Wendy's about 10 minutes after Will Crum had finished taking over Wendy's. I guess the plan, which I totally was left out of, was to go to Keane Coffee at 3 p.m. then get everyone together and head over to Wendy's around 4 p.m. Well, I definitely got there too late. I talked to the guys after and they had planned this whole thing out like days in advance. They staked out the place, distracted the employees as they snuck instruments and amps in, and then they plugged it all in and took over the fast-food joint. Look out because 17th Street's fast-food places may have another surprise performance by Will. Possibly Del Taco, Taco Bell and maybe even Denny's. It's going to be a fast-food tour. There are talks of his next performance being at the Jack In The Box in Newport Beach off PCH. This could be the newest trend. How exciting. I will keep you updated. ALSO I may have missed the Wendy's show. BUT I went to the after party and got to see Will perform a few sets. And it was pretty awesome. Expect some photos and videos tonight or tomorrow.

Hopefully I will have Will on Press Pass Music very soon when he releases his new album in the next couple of weeks.

Will Crum... Where were you?

It's Sunday... I get an email this morning about a spontaneous show that was going to take place in the Wendy's parking lot on 17 St. in Costa Mesa. Will Crum was supposed to perform. I went at 3 p.m. when I was informed it would start. I waited for 15 minutes... the parking lot was empty. Where were you Will Crum? I was super excited about the random show. I thought maybe this would be a new trend for local musicians. It's a beautiful Sunday for some Wendy's and Will Crum. AND I had planned on filming it and photographing it.

Was it a publicity stunt? Did something happen? Or was I just punked? You owe me a show Will Crum. ; )

P.S. I'm working on a Press Pass Music video promo. It should be out soon. AND don't forget the last OC Music Awards live showcase at Detroit Bar with Champagne Blvd, Starving For Gravity, Sederra and The Living Suns this Tuesday. The show starts at 9 p.m.

BEST OF 2008 SHOW -- Saturday, Jan. 3, 2009

It's 2009!!! Wooo hooo! Since, 2008 is officially, I thought it would be great to do a BEST OF 2008 show. After talking with listeners and other locals, I have made a list of the best songs by local musicians/bands from this year. ALSO, this will be my last show of the quarter at the 5 a.m. aka drunkards, insomniacs and surfers timeslot. Starting Thursday, Jan. 8 the Press Pass Music show will be on at noon to 2 p.m., of course every Thursday. YAYYYYYYYYYYYYYYYY!

The OC Music Awards live showcase also starts on Tuesday, Jan. 6. Please see below. The show is free too! That means starting this Thursday on my show, I will be bringing on a band that will be playing in the upcoming showcase. I will be judging the live showcase so that means you will find me at every showcase starting next week. Hope to see you there. Come say hi, lets talk music and show your support.

This is going to be an unforgettable year for Orange County music. : )

Playlist for 12-27-08

Happy holiday weekend!

On this week's show I played a few new bands to Press Pass Music. They included Moostache, Andrew Heringer Band, Hollowell, Will Crum, Marc B and Walk The Rio. Just by looking at these bands and hearing the sounds they produce, you can tell how diverse Orange County music really is. I love it!!!!!

What are you doing for New Year's? Well, whatever it is, hopefully you'll spend it with good friends, good booze and good spirits. It's what you make it. You have to know you're going to have a great time. It doesn't matter how much you spend on a hotel or club party, ex. Party hopping in Santa Barbara last year and getting locked out of a friends and crashing at some random but very nice people's house. ; ) The best New Year's ever! Again my New Year's Resolution for 2009 is to bring Orange County the biggest New Year's party with five to eight local bands for 2010 and to go to more shows!

Have a wonderful time you guys! OH and next week's show is my pick for the best songs of 2008.... also, I will be surveying locals on their favs too. If you have a favorite song from a local musician... send me an email: ashleyeliot@yahoo.com and I will dedicate that song to you.

Keep supporting local independent music!
