Bis
"Plastique Nouveau"
by: Sean Boy

One of the most impressive things about Bis is that they have yet to burn out. In the late 90's, as mere teens, they had more than their share of 15 minutes of fame being the first unsigned band to perform on Britain's Top of The Pops and all the fall-out from said attention. The band endured and survived through the hype and the death of their US label, Grand Royal. Bis' retro synth-punk sound preceded the current media drooling over the so called Electroclash movement. On Plastique Nouveau Bis add a handful of new tracks to reworked songs from last year's Return to Central. Once again they prove themselves pure pop geniuses with such gems as "Make It Through" and "Don't Let the Rain Come Down." Amazing that a supposed throw-away genre like New Wave could persist and sound so fresh. Much of the blame lies with Bis.
