Anything but straight ahead country: The Gourds incorporate honkytonk, blues, early jazz, bluegrass, traditional Irish music, and even doo-wop on Bolsa de Agua. If this sounds too diverse to create a cohesive album, it's not. These elements strengthen the songs while distinguishing the Gourds from other country bands. And the vocals grow on you like a weed. Yee-haw!
