After touring with the likes of Me First and The Gimme Gimmes, and Jimmy Eat World, these native Chicago veteran performers bring a solid twelve track LP to the table. Clearly influenced by Jimmy Eat World, the album starts off with the title track, “Stop.” “Stop” sets the tone for the rest of the record, emphasizing the melodic vocals, which are smoothly blended into rhythm guitar chords to produce a laid back indie-rock vibe. The lyrics aren’t standout, but are far from mundane, “Just stop, stop playin’ around, I’m ready to give you the feeling you’ve been dying for…” The emphasis is the arrangement of vocals into melodic songs. Hats off to the producer Loren Israel. The following three songs, “Please Don’t Do This,” “What If,” and “Fireworks” are all mainstream capable. “What If,” is the perfect theme song/anthem for living your life, and ceasing every opportunity. “Please Don’t do This,” is full of chunky guitar riffs, and “Fireworks,” is fun pop-rock. “Your Fault,” is a nice change up in the line up as it displays Tom Higgenson’s anger-vocals. The acoustic songs on the album are amazing, as they enhance the thick natural richness of Steve and Tom’s Vocals. The mix of melodies, rhythm guitar chords, and bouncing riffs provides for a safe formula of good music. A good pick up for any indie-rock fan, and an especially good pick up for any Jimmy Eat World fans.
