Making a debut away from his ex-band Pavement, Scott Kannberg (perhaps better known as Spiral Stairs) brings a twang to his listeners’ ears. His most recent conception, Preston School of Industry, produced ‘All this Sounds Gas’-an album consisting mostly of jangly, poppy tracks. Instruments used range from guitars to flugel horns to saws and coconut shells. In this album’s entirety, one can’t help but be reminded of Pavement. The closing track ‘Take a Stand’ is reminiscent of The Flaming Lips. Brimming with melodic tunes, ‘All this Sounds Gas’ will leave you humming.
