And if you asked that with a frown, it’ll surely be turned upside down upon hearing the remix of Bebel Gilberto’s album “Tanto Tempo.” Gilberto’s voice remains at the frontlines of most of these mixes, while the new beats are used mostly as a backdrop to her glossy singing. I found Da Lata’s rendition of “August Day Song” especially invigorating with a heavy base and light percussions, and I couldn’t help but take note of the track “Tanto Tempo” remixed by Chari Chari with it’s intoxicating beats. Samba dance party - let’s go!
