Monday October 20, 2008 Playlist
There was a birthday celebration this past week so I played the "Happy Birthday" song Bobby Enriquez style. Bobby was a great piano player from the Philippines and his style ranged from soft and gentle to wild (which is how he got the nickname "The WildMan From Mindanao" from saxophone great Ritchie Cole) when he pounds on the keyboard and changes tempo and musical styles multiple times during a song. Bobby played the Happy Birthday song like you've probably never heard!
Barraca Selva is a band from Spain that I just can't get enough of! Unfortunately I do not speak Spanish so I don't know the words to the songs they sing but the songs are still great. Music is truly an international language that everyone can understand. "En El Equador" is one of my favorite songs from the CD but the entire CD is excellent.
Tune in next week! Mondays don't have to be blah if you listen to great jazz!
