Alternative News is a new half-hour show hosted by Dan Tsang, who continues to host Subversity at KUCI (on Fridays 5-6 p.m.).
For this week's edition of "Alternative News", we feature programming from the National Radio Project, an alternative radio resource (www.radioproject.org) which produces a weekly "Making Contact" program.
This week's show is: Whose Free Press?: Media Consolidation and Democracy
Fewer than 10 media corporations now control through ownership most of the news and information we get in the United States. That number continues to shrink as these conglomerates cut mega-merger deals. On this program we take a look at the influence of money and corporate priorities on a basic democratic principle: Freedom of the press.
FEATURING: Norman Solomon, author and media critic, and Janine Jackson, Fairness and Accuracy in Reporting (FAIR)
Hope you can tune in!
