2004 has gone by so quickly for us, but it has brought many blessings. This was a year of many visits with friends and family. March brought a trip to Edmonton to witness the marriage of Geoff's sister,
Meghan, to Mike. In April, Geoff's friend Jason came into town to celebrate Geoff's birthday and the two of them took in a day of skiing at Copper Mountain. In May, we made the cross-country drive to
California for the wedding of friends Ashley and Chris. Following the wedding, we spent two days in Palm Springs with the Krolik family. July brought us the opportunity of a lifetime, the chance to go
to Glasgow, Scotland. While the travel there and back provided stories for us to tell, it was the days we spent discovering Glasgow that we will cherish forever. Our time there was far too short, but
the big highlights were touring a distillery in the countryside, and riding down the River Clyde. When we got back from Scotland, we discovered Melissa was pregnant. This was an answer to our prayers,
as we have been anxious to start our family. In September, Geoff had a conference in Breckenridge, Colorado, and Melissa's friend Heather came down from Edmonton to keep her company. We were also
treated to a special visit from Glen and Diane in October, and took in a lot of sights during their brief stay. This included a trip out to Garden of the Gods (near Colorado Springs), and a visit to
Buffalo Bill's Grave (near Golden). As a last hurrah before the baby comes, we flew out to Las Vegas for a few days, and we met up with Melissa's friend Lisa and her husband Chad. We had a fabulous
time, and we even came away with some money.
Our life here has been just as exciting. Melissa began volunteering at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, and Geoff continued his research at the University of Colorado Health Science Center.
Melissa got offered a paying summer job at the museum, which challenged her and allowed her to get to know more people. She enjoyed her leadership role, but was happy it was only for a few months.
Recently she has also started working at Harry and David (a gourmet food and chocolate store), and will be there over the holidays. Geoff was able to put out a few publications this year and made a few
presentations at conferences across the country, as well as in Glasgow.
This Christmas we will be traveling to Victoria, B.C. to spend time with Geoff's family. This will be our last Christmas with just the two of us. We can hardly wait to welcome Elijah James to the family.
He is due to arrive March 13, 2005.
We wish you all a blessed Christmas and a happy new year.
Love Geoff, Melissa, Honey Cat (& Elijah)
