Where can I find the drivers for my UltraStor card when I get Windows95? The UltraStor drivers are built into the "kernel" of the Windows95 OS. You only need to perform an add hardware function within Win95. We have been testing the drivers on our machines here throughout the Win95 beta tests. They seem very solid and we have seen very few problems with them. We have seen some problems with the 24F series EISA controller. Microsoft is aware of the problem and has told us they are working on it. We hope that they can correct the conflicts before the final release. Here is what information we have found on the problem. Errata Sheet for 24F and Windows 95. The 24F can currently only be used with the 64/32 mapping mode in Windows 95. (The 64/63 mapping mode causes the windows miniport driver to not be loaded resulting in a flag condition). Consequently the Windows 95 and 24F combination will have some limitations with disks larger than 1GB. Windows 95 has the ability to recognize and format disks larger than 1GB with the following limitations. First, these disks will not be DOS readable. In addition, only drives _not_ patched as INT13 devices by the 24F will allow Windows 95 to achieve full capacity. The 24F typcially patches the first two harddrives as INT13 devices. Install Procedure for > 1GB Harddisks in Windows 95 1) Verify the large drive has not been patched in as an INT13 device. Go into system properties device manager and select properties on the drive in question. Under the settings tab, verify the checkbox for Int 13 is checked. Note that if the checkbox is checked and grayed then the controller has patched the drive itself. Reboot if necessary. 2) Start a DOS session under Windows 95 and enter fdisk. Choose the appropriate drive under option 5 and then option 1 to create a partition. The full drive capacity should be available at this point. Reboot once the partition has been created. 3) Format the large partition by right clicking it's icon in the My Computer window and selecting format.
