12F-24 Question

Will a 12F-24 work in a Pentium system and as
a secondary controller w/an ST2383E esdi hdd?
I currently have a wd1009v-se1 controller and It
seems that It doesn't like a Pentium System and
Yes I have an eide hdd and cd rom changer and
both are on the primary eide port on the motherboard.
