: Hi
: I have just moved a 14f with 2 drives from a ASUS ***GX4 (DX4 100) to a soyo 5TF2 (IBM6x86MX).
: There is an S3 PCI video card, FDD to MB (not 14f) - nothing else yet. This board has intel 430HX chipset.
: ID0 is the boot device and not IDE drives are present in the 686 (none selected in cmos).
: The bios display on boot reports "timeout error" for each device (0-7).
: I have tried many things (check cables, recable, ISA mode, new MB bios).
: The 14f has the bios update (so I could get Linux up).
: Ideas anyone?
: Is there a problem with a 14f on a this or other pentium MB?
: TIA
: Paul
I just dropped a 14F board into a somewhat similar system for testing and although I had not problems, for kicks I tried shadowing the BIOS and that message appeard for the only device attached (a ZIP drive). You might check that the BIOS aren't shadowed and/or move the BIOS address around to see if that works.
