34f locks system boot

HELP
I got a 34f for free
When I install it with the bios enabled it locks the system after floppy seek.
When bios is disabled the system boots but 34f utilites from this site indicate that no 34f is found.
On another site I found that a diagnose for 12f says that if the led flashes once the cpu is bad. Well mine flashes once.

Any ideas, do I make a field clip board out of the board or is there hope
