Remember that the 34f is VL-bus - it sits right on the same bus as the CPU. I would bet
anything clocked-up, or on newer faster processors you would run into problems (like a dx4-120).

Also the multiple drives showing problem is usually because of poor physical setup. I.E. scsi
ID conflicts, bad cable, or poor termination.
