Most goths came across the very popular Drowning Dreams cassette, released in 1992, but after four years we all thought maybe The Shroud had curled up and died. Well, if they did, they ve resurrected quite powerfully with their first CD release, Long Ago and Far Away. Once called Eva Von Hellsing, Lydia Fortner brings a slightly more powerful sound to what is probably the most underrated band in the scene. This power does not overcome the sheer beauty we would expect from The Shroud, and still find here in abundance. This CD pulls out echoes from the darker hallways of your mind and brings the beauty of death and love to the surface, swirling these and other sadnesses in a cauldron of beauty and power that leaves one with chills up and down the spine. In short, this CD will affect you.
