Dec 27, Carolyn Gross, Wellness Expert, and Holistic Health Coach

    Listen to this interview

Carolyn Gross is a cancer "thriver", an award-winning international speaker, facilitator, wellness expert, and holistic health coach. For more than two decades, she has facilitated wellness retreats at top rated spas and worked as a CranioSacral therapist.

She is Past President of the National Speakers Association in San Diego and the author of two books, Staying Calm in the Midst of Chaos: How to Keep Positive in an Unsettled World and Treatable and Beatable: Healing Cancer without Surgery.

Carolyn got her start building a successful career in corporate sales while always devoting herself to researching her passion of wellness and healing. Her focus has always been to help others and explore natural health solutions to stay healthy and avoid burnout.

After September 11th, she committed a year to tour her first book, Staying Calm in the Midst of Chaos because she felt people needed new strategies to stay positive and productive. At the end of the year she noticed fatigue that seemed unfamiliar. That was when she discovered she had Stage Three Breast Cancer.

Determined to heal the cancer from her wellness and alternative health perspective, she chose immunotherapy and the cancer vaccine for her treatment. This meant saying 'no thank you' to four doctors who said she needed a mastectomy. She wrote her second book documenting her success story with the latest non-surgical options, Treatable and Beatable: Healing Cancer without Surgery. Carolyn's healing message captures her audiences while engaging her listeners and readers.

Carolyn Gross has helped countless corporate and individual clients Manage Chaos with Confidence. Now she is sharing her holistic message on how to become a cancer "thriver" as part of the Treatable and Beatable mindset.

In 2007-2008 she will be doing an extensive book and media tour while speaking at women's health conferences and wellness industry events, business retreats and international conventions. Her media tour starts with Jesse Dylan's Nationally Syndicated Radio Show "The Good Life" on June 18th. Her eloquent and compelling message is timely, informative and energizing.

He has represented clients in both state and federal court, as well as in multi-million dollar arbitrations in connection with disputes involving personal and business torts, contract law, commercial fraud, unfair competition/false advertising law, trust & probate law, and constitutional law. His clients have included individuals, small businesses, charitable institutions, and large international corporations in a variety of industries including sports & entertainment, technology, retail, health care, manufacturing, real estate development, engineered products and services, financial services, legal services, and banking.

Over the last twenty years, John has had the unusual good fortune to work on a variety of impact cases in consumer oriented insurance litigation, civil rights and government conduct issues.

John's primary consumer law experience over the last twenty years has been representation of small business and individual policyholders in insurance coverage disputes. His office is motivated to assist small businesses in insurance coverage matters because small businesses often have a very difficult time surviving a coverage battle with an insurance company and protection of the small business community against such bankrupting circumstances is important for democracy. John addressed a number improprieties he saw in the conduct of the insurance industry, including the immunity granted to the industry regarding the secret blacklist maintained by the industry keeping records on consumers for which the consumers had no remedy to discover and correct errors.

In the government conduct and civil rights area, John has been involved in the litigation of a series of cases concerning politically motivated prosecutions, a case involving abuses of a private intelligence gathering organization working in cooperation with a governmental actor to keep a secret database of information the accuracy of which could not be verified, a pivotal case challenging a sexual harassment policy system that allowed a local government entity to cover up sexual harassment and brutal sexual assaults by a government management official against his female employees, disability discrimination cases, representation to protect individuals against post 9-11 false accusations of terrorist affiliation, and a case setting precedent requiring the federal government to allow and consider public input before closing off national park lands.

Over the past several years John has been litigating the Drew v. Equifax matter focused on the practices of the credit reporting industry in failing to adequately respond to consumer requests to correct credit report errors and the resulting exacerbation of the identity theft problem.

Aug 23, David Roberts, PhD, Clinical Psychologist

    Listen to this interview

David L. Roberts, Ph.D. is a licensed Clinical Psychologist with an M.S. in General Psychology, an M.S. in Administration, and a B.A. in Literature with a minor in music. His varied educational background and work experiences as a psychologist, businessman and entrepreneur, writer, musician, and college professor give Dr. Roberts a very unique combination of both knowledge and professional diversity. Dr. Roberts' two books - At the Mercy of Externals, and Psycho-Soul-ology - provide invaluable insight into his own life lessons and accomplishments; and provide a tried and true system of service delivery to kids of all ages circumstances, cultures, and backgrounds. His theories and approaches have proven successful across many cultural divides, and for a number of different professions related directly to serving kids of all ages. The Roberts FLAGS Model and related components can easily be adapted into any number of parenting, professional, and youth workshops and seminars. As of August 2009 Dr. Roberts has been contracted by the Riverside County Office of the Public Defender in two capital murder cases, tentatively slated for trials in August through September 2010. The partnership with Riverside County is a direct result of Dr. Roberts work with Riverside County gang members between the years of 1996 and 2004.

Dr. Roberts is once again expanding his scope of service provision to include a more global effort to promote ethics, morals, and values for a generation of young people and adults worldwide who are morally bankrupt. This observation is visible through many people in positions of power and authority throughout all levels of society, politics and religion, frequently exposed for living by opposing sets of beliefs. Kids and adults nowadays often place more emphasis on not getting caught than on doing what is right. Evidence of these errors in judgment can be seen around the world with anyone who lives and sustains their social standing at the expense of others, and without and adherence even to basic principles of honor, honesty, and integrity. Dr. Roberts seeks openly to expose these kinds of misdeeds and outright deceptions by serving as an advocate for those who are the most vulnerable in societies, with little if any means to defend themselves from such injustices.

With a great deal of both vision and insight, Dr. Roberts seeks to address these travesties and injustices through both his private practice, www.ProKidsInc.org (PKI), and the planned expansion of the practice into Liberating Youth, Inc (LYI). PKI offers advocacy, counseling, redirection and support services. LYI will include: all of the services offered under PKI; an adult education component for transitional age kids; and an on-the-job training component supported by technology-based business ventures also serving as sources of revenue for the overall concept. From there Dr. Roberts is working diligently to create IAmWeAreCentral, Inc. to address all of these factors from a much more global perspective utilizing spiritual principles and standards common to all religions and cultures worldwide. LYI will work in conjunction with at least one outside group who shares this level of global perspective. Such efforts will teach all of the young people involved in LYI the importance of seeing all aspects of life and nature as being inextricably interlinked. The goal is to spread these concepts and this model worldwide for the benefit of increasing a global appreciation of equality, harmony, and justice.

Apr 19, Mark Robert Waldman - Author, Researcher and Therapist

    Listen to this interview

Mark Robert Waldman is a therapist and an Associate Fellow at the Center for Spirituality and the Mind, University of Pennsylvania (http://www.uphs.upenn.edu/radiology/research/labs/csm/), where he currently conducts research with Andrew Newberg, MD, on the neurological correlates of beliefs, morality, compassion, meditation, religious experiences, and spiritual practices. He is adjunct faculty at Loyola Marymount University, Los Angeles, where he is developing communication tools for the Executive MBA program. He lectures frequently at conferences, colleges, and churches on topics relating to the neuropsychology of stress, relaxation, emotional control, relationship dynamics, conflict resolution, mediation, communication, weight management, and the neurobiological development of personal values and business ethics (neuroeconomics). His research has been featured in Time Magazine, Washington Post, Oprah Magazine and Radio, USA Today, The New York Times science section, and his interviews have appeared on dozens of radio and television programs, including Oprah and Friends.

Mark is the author of eleven books and anthologies, and his professional papers have been published throughout the world. He was the founding editor of the academic journal, Transpersonal Review, chairman of the Los Angeles Transpersonal Interest Group, regional coordinator for the Spiritual Emergence Network, and he holds a ministerial credential in pastoral counseling. He coathors a monthly column on "Science and Spirituality" for Science of Mind magazine.

His most recent book, coauthored with Dr. Newberg, is How God Changes Your Brain: Breakthrough Findings By a Leading Neuroscientist. According to Time, Newsweek, and the Washington Post, Mark and Andy are the world's leading experts on spirituality and the brain [see, for example, the February 23, 2009 issue of Time Magazine] and in this book, they use their state-of-the art brain-scan technology and research surveys to document how different forms of spiritual practice, secular meditation, intensive prayer, and positive affirmations change the function and structure of the brain. They show how these changes improve memory, cognition, and compassion while simultaneously suppressing activity in those parts of the brain that generate stress, anxiety, depression, and anger. Their book features a dozen simple exercises that anyone can do to achieve these neurological and psychological benefits, and it only takes a few minutes a day focusing on your innermost values and goals. In just eight weeks, the brain-scan studies show significant improvement, and if these simple exercises are incorporated into short-term therapy (which Mark does in his counseling practice in Camarillo, California), most people can dramatically reduce their dependency on psychological counseling and anti-depressant medication. Why? Because you can then remain stress-free for many, many years.

Mark's and Dr. Newberg's research documents how the religious climate in America has shifted toward a more optimistic and less theologically-oriented spirituality that simultaneously embraces science. Their research also documents how negative thinking and speech can actually damage important parts of the brain. But if you focus on your deepest positive values, such as compassion, love or peace, this will have beneficial effects on those parts of the brain that regulate emotions and enhance social awareness and empathy.
